Dustin has been commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel, the highest civilian honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, by Governor Andy Beshear.

The title of Kentucky Colonel is conferred upon individuals recognized for service, leadership, and meaningful impact within their fields and communities. Over time, it has been awarded to figures from a wide range of disciplines, including public service, culture, business, and humanitarian work.

A Tradition of Recognition

The commission places Dustin within a long-standing tradition that honors those who lead with purpose and contribute beyond themselves. The distinction has historically recognized individuals whose work influences others—often quietly, over long periods, before results are widely visible.

Rather than celebrating a single moment, the honor reflects cumulative effort: years of work, persistence through uncertainty, and commitment to values that extend beyond immediate recognition.

From Dustin:

“Nothing happened for years. Then the seeds I planted began to bear fruit.

I’ve been commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Andy Beshear, the highest civilian honor in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

It’s an award that has been given to individuals who lead with purpose and move the needle in their own corners of the world. People like Winston Churchill, Maya Angelou, Ronald Reagan, Walt Disney, and Warren Buffett. To be honored in the same way as people like that is incredibly humbling.

To those still planting seeds in quiet places, unsure if anyone sees, this is proof that the work matters. That the long, silent seasons are never wasted.

And to the One above who keeps lighting the way, I feel You. 🙏🏼

Colonel Dustin Plantholt”
